Optimal accessibility
Zwolle is characterised by its favourable (regional, national and euroregional) geographic location. That is why the city is a perfect business location for businesspeople. Zwolle is a busy junction of motorways, streets, railways and other traffic flows. But the city can also be reached by bicycle or water.
By car
Due to the city's location right next to the A28 motorway, Zwolle is perfectly accessible by car. This is an absolute advantage to companies: For their staff, suppliers, visitors and distribution purposes. The A28 connects directly to the main traffic network of the Netherlands.
The A31 is the main north-south route in the west of Germany and is no more than 60 km away. This means there is a quick connection with Germany, Eastern Europe and Scandinavia.
By public transport
The Zwolle train station handles 80,000 travellers every day. And this number is growing since the construction of the Hanze Line and the increase of the station's capacity to 100,000. Zwolle has eight connections and is the second largest railway junction in the Netherlands (after Utrecht). The station is within walking distance of the city centre and schools. Thanks to the excellent bus connection (and future tram connection), companies and offices are accessible in no time.
The new Hanze Line between Lelystad and Zwolle will be opened on 12.12.12. A train journey of only 30 minutes connects the two cities. The north and north-east of the Netherlands will then be much closer to the Randstad conurbation. From Zwolle you will be in Amsterdam within one hour, with Schiphol not far away.
Digital highway
Zwolle is connected to the fastest open fibreglass network in the Netherlands. The city has its own fibreglass city ring and, therefore, many companies are assured of a perfect connection. Virtually all business parks also have their own fibreglass network.
Fibreglass is able to process much more data as it uses light signals and can cross larger distances without loss of quality or speed, not even when many people are simultaneously using the network. Businesspeople set high demands regarding an optimal ICT environment. In turn, the municipality reinforces its competitiveness and innovative capacity.
